Accent and voice neutralization

Accent Neutralization Classes Online: Be Understood by Anyone, First Time

Keep your identity, lose the sounds that make people ask you to repeat.

A neutral accent does not mean sounding American or British. It means removing the strongest traces of your first language so that a listener from Texas, London, Sydney or Singapore understands you without effort. For many Indian professionals who talk to people from several countries, that is a better target than a full American accent.

American accent or neutral accent?

Choose American if your listeners are mostly American. Choose neutral if they come from everywhere. The first month of training is almost the same either way.

The sound swaps that mark an Indian accent most

Each Indian language carries its own set, so your coach starts by recording you and mapping which of these you actually do. You probably do three or four, not all of them.

What happensExampleThe fix
V and W merge into one sound"wery vell" for very wellTeeth on lip for V, round lips for W
TH becomes T or D"tree" for three, "dis" for thisTongue tip between the teeth
Hard, curled back T and Dheavy "T" in total, dataTongue tip forward to the gum ridge
Extra vowel before S clusters"ischool", "estation"Start straight on the S
Extra vowel after final consonants"aske-d", "texte-s"Close the word on the consonant
Z said as J or S"jero" for zeroA buzzing S, tongue does not touch the roof
Long and short vowels mergedship and sheep sound the sameMinimal pair drills
Every syllable stressed equallyde-ve-lop-ment, flat and rushedOne strong syllable per word
Fixing sounds is only half of it. Rhythm and intonation decide whether you sound confident or rushed, which is why month two of the course is about stress, pausing and pitch, not individual letters.

How the 12 week neutralization course runs

1

Month 1: sound foundations

A recorded baseline, then V and W, TH, softer T and D, clean word endings, and long versus short vowels.

2

Month 2: rhythm and melody

Word and sentence stress, the schwa, pausing in the right places and an intonation that does not sound flat.

3

Month 3: under pressure

Meetings, client calls and interviews, so the neutral accent holds when you are nervous or speaking fast.

Classes are live 1-on-1, about 30 minutes a day, five days a week, with the same tutor, in slots from 8 AM to 10 PM IST. Week by week detail: accent neutralization syllabus. Course page: accent and voice neutralization classes.

Questions about accent neutralization

What is accent neutralization?
It is training that removes the strongest first language features from your English, such as merged V and W or every syllable stressed the same, so people from any country understand you easily. It does not aim to make you sound American or British, only clear.
Will I lose my Indian identity?
No. A neutral accent keeps your natural voice and much of your accent. It only changes the sounds and rhythms that cause misunderstanding. Most learners still sound Indian, just easier to follow on a bad phone line or in a fast meeting.
How long does it take to neutralize an accent?
The standard plan is 12 weeks of live 1-on-1 classes, 30 minutes a day on weekdays. Your coach records you in the ₹299 demo and adjusts the order and pace to the sounds your mother tongue makes hardest, so some learners need less time and some more.
